The maker’s mark
Leijonstedt maker’s mark depicts an open book whose pages form the tail of a peacock.
Like bookbinders of the past who were often recognised from the tools they used and printers who identified their published works by personal marks, this maker’s mark appears in all my books completed after November 2007.
Since white peacock has strong symbolic significance in my life - some traditions may call it my ‘totem animal’ - combined with the motif of a book, it is a very special emblem for me to mark my bindings with.
